Resilient Streets Kick-off Packed and Vibrant

ByBuilding Resilient Neighbourhoods October 17, 2013April 25, 2024

Just came back from the Vic West Resilient Streets Kick-off, and still vibrating! We had 40 people comfortably packed into a meeting room at the Vic West Community Centre. Stacy did a great little overview of resilience, provided some examples of what others have done to help build resilience in their neighbourhoods (including a sweet video about a micro-library project right here in Victoria), and reviewed some of the support Building Resilient Neighbourhoods can offer people, including micro-grants. (See our Resilient Streets Toolkit for more info.) Jack was the “unexpected” hit of the night with his entertaining and inspiring under-7 minutes PechaKucha-style rundown of all the expected and “unexpected” benefits that spun out of the McCaskill Transition Streets project. There was a lot of interest in finding ways to do follow-up connecting between folks, and so we’ll be looking at opportunities for facilitating that asap. Looking forward to the Vic West Resilience Assembly on November 17th — stay tuned!
