Connect & Prepare

Connect & Prepare Expands to three new communities – Here’s How It Went!

Our 2024 Learning Reports describes what we did, what we learned, and our plans for moving ahead.

ByBuilding Resilient Neighbourhoods April 1, 2024April 30, 2024

Building Resilient Neighbourhoods helped bring Connect & Prepare to three new BC municipalities in 2022-23: North Vancouver, New Westminster, and Vancouver-Mount Pleasant. Through our partnership with Hey Neighbour Collective and in collaboration with resident champions, housing operators, local government emergency management and planning staff, and community-based organizations, this Connect & Prepare “scaling pilot” tested different ways of broadening the program’s reach and deepening its impact.

“If our residents are better prepared for emergencies
together, that’s better for us as a housing operator, too.”

Suzanne Klassen, Community Engagement Coordinator,
Brightside Community Homes

Our 2024 Learning Report describes what we did, what we learned, and our plans for moving ahead. The report shares inspiring stories of resident-led projects to enhance social connections and improve preparedness, outlines the effectiveness of leveraging local partnerships, and describes the many positive impacts for participating housing operators. We also delve into the data and outcomes, review our key learnings, and highlight the insights that will help shape the future of Connect & Prepare.
