Transition Streets Program

ByBuilding Resilient Neighbourhoods April 7, 2015April 25, 2024

Transition Victoria pioneered the Transition Streets program. Watch a video about the first-ever Transition Street, which happened in Vic West. On a Transition Street, neighbours work together to learn how they can increase their self-reliance in five areas: local food, energy use, transportation, water and waste. Five topics, seven meetings — and each household creates their own individual action plan. Some groups also decide on a group project they can do together.

What are the benefits?

  • Identify and reduce your daily costs of living
  • Learn more about Capital Regional District climate action resources, regional food and more
  • Have fun and get to know your neighbours
  • Reduce your impact on the environment
  • Understand more about these times of change and uncertainty

Here are all the Transition Streets modules available free (left click to open, right click to download):

Start-up support for Transition Streets was originally provided by Vancity and the CRD Climate Action Program.
