Emergencies in Community: Tenants Supporting Tenants

ByBuilding Resilient Neighbourhoods February 26, 2025July 11, 2025

Since 2023, BRN has been collaborating with BC Housing to strengthen Tenant Resilience and support creating more prepared and connected communities at BC Housing sites. Through the delivery of BRN’s programs, such as Connect & Prepare and Neighbours-Helping-Neighbours, this collaboration has integrated a resilience lens into tenant-programming and helped tenants to take action towards strengthening their and their neighbour’s collective resilience.

Here’s the BC Housing ‘Let’s Talk Housing!’ description of the podcast:

The latest “Let’s Talk Housing” podcast episode highlights BC Housing’s efforts to build resilient communities through innovative tenant engagement programs and features BRN’s Executive Director, Stacy Barter. By fostering social ties and preparing for emergencies, BC Housing creates supportive environments. It covers the Community Development Framework and the impact of events like the heat dome and flooding on residents. The collaboration with Building Resilient Neighborhoods emphasizes the importance of relationships and support systems in helping residents thrive. The core message is that housing is about creating a sense of belonging and support, not just buildings.
