Announcing Capital Region Connection in Action

A new regional community-building initiative in the Greater Victoria area

Capital Region Connection in Action is a region-wide initiative focused on strengthening neighbourly connections, personal belonging, and community resilience across the CRD. The project equips and supports people to take meaningful action to build social connectedness and communities of care. 

Connection in Action kicks off with a hands-on workshop May 14th, building toward a coordinated regional moment during Loneliness Awareness Week (June 15-21, 2026) when community partners across the Capital Region come together to highlight the simple, everyday actions that help people connect.

Community Connections for Turbulent Times:

Practical Skills for Building Neighbourly Connections

Thursday, May 14th, 2026
6:00 – 9:00 PM
Victoria Scottish Community Centre, 1803 Admirals Rd

Free to attend – dinner provided

In this interactive workshop, you will:

  • EXPLORE why social connection matters for health, resilience, preparedness, and wellbeing
  • LEARN practical, low-pressure skills for reaching out and bringing people together
  • DISCOVER inspiring ideas to strengthen social connections and mutual support
  • DISCUSS real scenarios and practice approaches that feel natural and manageable
  • BUILD an action plan for Loneliness Awareness Week and beyond 
  • CONNECT with other community builders over a shared meal

This workshop is the launch event for Connection in Action’s regional activation initiative during Loneliness Awareness Week, June 15–21.
